Civil rights and criminal defense attorney Nicole Bellina has over 15 years of experience fighting for clients charged with crimes and abused by the police. She has championed the rights of inmates both in NYC jails and in upstate prisons. Nicole is a skilled negotiator and an expert trial attorney who has brought justice to hundreds of clients.

Nicole began her career at the Prisoners Rights Project working with inmates at Rikers Island to protect their right to proper medical care and other basic needs. She then joined the criminal defense division of the Legal Aid Society where she handled all types of cases including misdemeanors, robberies, drug sales, assaults, rapes and DWIs. She assisted her clients outside the courtroom too, at school board hearings, line ups, grand jury proceedings, eviction hearings and forfeiture proceedings.

As a partner at Stoll, Glickman & Bellina, LLP, Nicole has developed a reputation as a passionate client advocate earning the respect of adversaries, judges and her colleagues in the civil rights community. She has had incredible success winning even the unwinnable cases. She has taken many cases to trial in Criminal and Supreme Court, as well as in Federal Court, and has argued appeals before the 2nd Circuit and Appellate Divisions.

Nicole has been named as one of the National Trial Lawyers Top 100. She has also been awarded the Thurgood Marshall Award by the NYC Bar Association. Nicole has been featured in the NY Daily News, the NY Post, and the Associated Press and she has been invited to speak about criminal justice and civil rights issues on Brooklyn Live and other programs.
